A WORLD OF WALNUTS
Gambini Nut Co. is proud to be part of a very long and worldwide walnut growing history and tradition. In the 4th century AD, the ancient Romans introduced the walnut tree to many European countries where this unique
nut has flourished for thousands of years.
There are a wide variety of walnuts with origins from around the globe. For example, the English walnut originated in India and the regions surrounding the Caspian Sea. These English walnuts made their way to North America via English merchant ships; hence the origin of their name. Black and white walnuts are native to North America, specifically the Central Mission Valley and Appalachian areas. Walnuts played an important role in the diet and lifestyles of both the Native American Indians and the early colonial settlers.
WALNUTS - A WHOLE FOOD WITH A UNIQUE NUTRITIONAL PROFILE
Walnuts are a nutrient-dense food that earned one of the first approved qualified health claims by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) for a whole food. Unique among nuts, walnuts contain the highest amount of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), the plant-based omega-3 essential fatty acid.
